Leslie is the daughter of my nephew and his sweet wife. She was born too soon - just long enough to receive her body and to be fiercely loved by her parents. Their first child, she now watches over her mommy and daddy and her little sister Aspen from up above.
Jacob is the son of our neighbors and friends. He was full term and all was well with delivery, until suddenly it wasn't, and Jacob passed. How could it be? He had a big brother and sister waiting to hear the joyous news of his birth. Now Jacob would be their guardian angel. I had the privilege of holding Jacob's perfect little body. His spirit had already gone - but it hadn't gone far, because I felt his spirit so strong. I will never forget him.
Both Leslie and Jacob and their strong faithful families are in my heart. When I heard of this organization who collects wedding dresses and turns them into beautiful burial gowns for Angel babies I knew I wanted to be a part of such a remarkable cause. I was afraid I would find it depressing but just the opposite has happened. I find it an honor and privilege to be a part of helping to clothe these angels and hopefully bring just a touch of beauty to grieving families.
So, this blog is a way for me to share ideas with other seamstresses and to show what creative and beautiful gowns can be made from old wedding and prom dresses. Hopefully it will help us gather more donations so we can keep this service going.
